David: From Shepherd to King

Before David was a king or a giant-slayer, he was the youngest son, left in the fields with the sheep. When God sent the prophet Samuel to choose Israel's next king, no one even thought to call David in from the flock.

But God told Samuel, “People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

God's choices rarely match ours.
